How many players do you know that were talented enough to make it to the next level but never did?

Erick Olivas, also known as "Spike17" for his spiky hair and #17 high school jersey number, was a premier USYS player in Utah who believed had the potential to play at the next level. As it is the case with many players, his dream did not come true and was left heartbroken.

Aside from the "pay to play" controversy in the United States for young athletes, he believed that if he had just gotten the proper exposure to college & professional academy coaches, his opportunities would have been a lot greater.

Now, being a firm believer of creating opportunities rather than waiting for them -- Spike17's mission is to spike the exposure of Utah's top youth footballers (aka the 801 Elite) to college & professional academy coaches.

Why Are We Doing It?

Here is the harsh reality: The chances of a player signing a pro contract or getting a D1 full-ride scholarship are lower than 10%, probably even lower.

In the United States, being an above average footballer isn't enough to make it to the next level. Relying on your local elite club or professional academy is a common, but huge mistake that players make. They think that as long as they play at the highest youth level, they are guaranteed to play at the next level. -- This is completely false, there is a lot more to it. -- It is a game of sales & marketing. It is a game of odds. Only those who are proactive with their outreach will increase their odds of being noticed by a college coach or academy scout... & even then, their odds aren't guaranteed.

Spike17 creates highly organized highlight videos & builds CV resumes for top youth athletes who are looking to gain exposure to various college coaches & academies.

Relying on one elite club or professional youth academy to reach your goal means that you are limiting yourself to the expanded opportunities you may have if you are proactively reaching out to multiple college/academy programs.
